GATE General Aptitude Mock Tests

General Aptitude appears in every GATE paper and carries a fixed share of the marks. It is the most cost-effective section to prepare for.

Marks you can secure early

The aptitude block is relatively short and its content is stable across branches. Because the questions are usually easier than the core subject, a disciplined candidate can collect most of the marks with modest preparation.

What to prepare

  • Verbal ability: grammar, sentence completion, vocabulary and short comprehension
  • Numerical ability: arithmetic, ratio, percentage, time and work and data interpretation
  • Logical and spatial reasoning at a basic level

Practise at the right time

Attempt the aptitude questions at the start of a mock to build confidence and a baseline score, or at the end to use leftover time. Test both orders and see which suits your style. Keep your practice short and consistent, with a couple of sets a week from percentage and vocabulary drills. The full strategy is in the GATE preparation guide.
