How to Improve English Grammar for Objective Exams
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
Objective exams test a small set of grammar rules over and over. Learn those first and your accuracy rises quickly.
A study order
- Subject-verb agreement: for example, "the list of items is" not "are"
- Tenses and their sequence: particularly the perfect tenses
- Prepositions: memorise common pairs such as "interested in" and "capable of"
- Articles: a, an and the
- Pronouns and modifiers: clear reference and correct placement
Practise error spotting daily
Read five sentences each day and find the error before checking. Writing the rule you applied turns practice into learning.
Keep a rule sheet
Whenever you get a grammar question wrong, add the rule and an example sentence to a single sheet. Review it weekly with the schedule in spaced repetition.
Read to hear what is right
Regular reading builds an ear for correct usage. Pair it with the routine in a daily reading comprehension routine.
See how grammar is tested in SSC CGL English and banking English, and practise vocabulary alongside it with vocabulary questions.
