How to Use Mock Tests for XAT Preparation

XAT mock tests need a slightly different review than other management exams, because Decision Making cannot be reviewed by checking a formula. You have to review your reasoning.

A sample week

• Two days: a Decision Making set, reviewed in writing
• Two days: a verbal set with two long passages
• One day: a quant and DI sectional
• Weekend: a full mock and its review

Review Decision Making in writing

For each case question, write a sentence on why your chosen option was best and another on why the closest alternative was worse. If you cannot write the second sentence, you guessed. This discipline is what turns practice into judgement. Use the Decision Making tests for sets.

Verbal depth

Alongside timed passages in verbal and logical ability, read one long essay a day and summarise it in three lines. It trains the same muscle without a clock.
