Main components
The paper has included sections on Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. A separate General Knowledge component and an essay have also been part of the exam in various years, and may be treated differently in the selection process.
Marking
Correct answers earn positive marks and incorrect ones carry a penalty; unattempted questions in some cases carry small penalties too. Always confirm marking details in the current XAT notification.
Building mocks around the pattern
- Include Decision Making in every full mock
- Practise on screen with the exam's time limit
- Test general knowledge separately in short quizzes
Use the XAT strategy guide to schedule your practice and browse the XAT mock test hub for tests.
Note: this is a general summary, not an official source. Consult XLRI's official XAT website for the current pattern.
