What the section looks like
The section presents scenarios, often with conflicting stakeholders, and asks for the best decision or the most valid conclusion. Some are analytical puzzles in disguise, some are ethical dilemmas, and some require you to weigh quantitative information.
A method that works
- List the stakeholders and what each stands to gain or lose
- Separate facts from opinions in the scenario
- Check every option against the constraints in the case before choosing
Practising
Do a case set slowly the first time, writing out your reasoning, and then repeat under a clock. In a mock, mark questions where you felt torn and review the explanation for each. Over time you will see patterns in what the best option tends to look like: it respects constraints and avoids extreme actions.
