What the Physics section rewards
JEE Main Physics mixes direct formula-application questions with a few that need two or three steps. Most marks come from students who recognise the type of problem within seconds and avoid long derivations. Numerical-value questions, where there are no options to fall back on, punish careless unit and arithmetic errors, so accuracy matters as much as concept clarity.
Chapters worth drilling in timed tests
- Mechanics: kinematics, laws of motion, work-energy, rotational motion and gravitation
- Electricity and magnetism: electrostatics, current electricity, magnetic effects and electromagnetic induction
- Waves and optics: ray optics, wave optics and sound
- Modern physics: atoms, nuclei and semiconductors, which are often the quickest marks
How to use mock tests for Physics
Attempt a Physics-only test of 25 to 30 questions in 30 to 40 minutes, then sort every mistake into three bins: concept gap, formula slip, or arithmetic error. Concept gaps send you back to the chapter; the other two are fixed with more timed practice. When you move to full papers, start with the section that is your strongest so that early confidence does not depend on Physics. The wider routine is laid out in our JEE Main mock-test strategy guide.
