How to Use Mock Tests for CLAT Preparation
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
Every CLAT section is built on passages, so the clock is really a reading clock. A good mock routine measures how quickly and accurately you read, not just how many questions you answer.
Time each passage
In your mocks note the minutes you spend on each passage. After three or four tests you will see which kinds of passage slow you down, whether dense editorial prose or legal principles. Those are the types to practise in short, daily sets.
Legal reasoning needs its own habit
Answer according to the principle given in the passage, not what you know of the law. After a mock, re-read each wrong question and mark the sentence in the passage that decides the answer. The legal reasoning page explains the approach in more detail.
A current affairs log that works
Instead of copying headlines, write one line per event about why it matters, then quiz yourself weekly. This builds the understanding passage-based questions require. See current affairs and GK practice.
