How to Use Mock Tests for Banking Exam Preparation
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
In many banking exams each section has its own timer, and once the time is up you cannot return. That makes the way you spend those minutes the main skill being tested.
Practise with the timer, not around it
Set a sectional timer in every mock, even when you are practising a single section. When the timer ends, stop, mark where you reached and then continue untimed for the remaining questions. The gap between the two scores shows how much speed alone is costing you.
Judge puzzles early
A puzzle set can carry several questions, but a bad choice can eat ten minutes. Practise reading the first three conditions and deciding in thirty seconds whether to attempt. The banking reasoning page describes common puzzle types.
Track speed by question type
Keep a table with columns for question type, average seconds and accuracy. Quantitative questions such as simplification and data interpretation sets should have clear speed targets. Revisit the table every two weeks.
Prelims and mains
If your exam has a mains stage, add awareness quizzes from the banking awareness page about a month ahead. For a complete plan read the banking strategy guide, then browse banking mock tests.
