A sample question from this test
A boat's speed in still water is 13 km/h and the speed of the stream is 6 km/h. How many hours will it take to cover 42 km upstream?

- 13
- 11
Answer: A. 6. Upstream speed = 13 − 6 = 7 km/h. Time = 42 ÷ 7 = 6 hours.
How to approach this test
Downstream speed is boat plus stream and upstream is boat minus stream; the boat speed is half the sum of the two and the stream speed half their difference.
