A sample question from this test
A boat can travel at 19 km/h in still water and the stream flows at 3 km/h. How long (in hours) will it take to go 132 km downstream?
- 5
- 12
- 11
- 6
Answer: D. 6. Downstream speed = 19 + 3 = 22 km/h. Time = 132 ÷ 22 = 6 hours.
How to approach this test
Downstream speed is boat plus stream and upstream is boat minus stream; the boat speed is half the sum of the two and the stream speed half their difference.
