A volume game
With around 150 questions across five sections, MAT leaves little time for deep thinking on any single question. The mathematics is close to school level, with questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration and number properties. Candidates who lose marks usually do so by spending too long on one item or by being careless under speed.
What to prepare
- Percentage, ratio, averages, interest, ages and time-based arithmetic
- Number system, divisibility and simplification
- Algebra basics, geometry and mensuration formulas
Pacing with mocks
Set a per-question ceiling of about a minute and note any question that crosses it. Your overall plan should balance this section with the logical and language sections, as discussed in the MAT strategy guide. For quick topic drills, our HCF and LCM and average sets keep fundamentals sharp.
More sections: Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Intelligence and Critical Reasoning.
