A sample question from this test

What is the smaller angle (in degrees) between the hour hand and the minute hand of a clock at 11:16?

  1. 88
  2. 178
  3. 118
  4. 140

Answer: C. 118. Angle = |30 × 11 − 5.5 × 16| = |330 − 88| = 242°; the smaller angle is 360° − that value = 118°.

How to approach this test

Probability: Probability is favourable outcomes divided by total outcomes. Count both carefully and reduce the fraction at the end.

Clock Problems: The minute hand moves 6° a minute and the hour hand 0.5° a minute, so the angle at h:m is |30h − 5.5m|. Take the smaller angle if it exceeds 180°.

Calendar Problems: Count odd days: 7 days make a week, so only the remainder after dividing the number of days by 7 shifts the weekday.

This set mixes straightforward questions with a few that need an extra step, so it works well as a checkpoint once the basics are comfortable. At 15 questions in 20 minutes, you have about 80 seconds per question on average. After you submit, review every wrong or guessed answer using the explanations.
