A sample question from this test

Two trains of lengths 187 m and 188 m run in opposite directions at 108 km/h and 162 km/h. In how many seconds will they cross each other?

  1. 5
  2. 4
  3. 7
  4. 15

Answer: A. 5. Relative speed = (108 + 162) × 5/18 = 75 m/s. Distance = 187 + 188 = 375 m. Time = 375 ÷ 75 = 5 seconds.

How to approach this test

Boats and Streams: Downstream speed is boat plus stream and upstream is boat minus stream; the boat speed is half the sum of the two and the stream speed half their difference.

Problems on Trains: Convert km/h to m/s with 5/18, add the train length to the platform or other train when crossing, and add speeds only when trains run in opposite directions.

Partnership: Profit is shared in the ratio of investment × time. When time differs, multiply each investment by its months before comparing.

Mixtures and Alligation: Alligation gives the ratio directly: (dearer − mean) : (mean − cheaper). Check that the mean price lies between the two prices.

This set leans hard, with multi-step questions, so treat it as a stretch: attempt the questions you can see a method for first and return to the rest. At 25 questions in 40 minutes, you have about 96 seconds per question on average. After you submit, review every wrong or guessed answer using the explanations.
