How to Break Through a Mock Test Score Plateau
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
Almost every aspirant hits a stage where mock scores stop improving. It feels like a wall, but it is more often a sign that your routine has stopped being challenging.
1. Narrow your review
If you review everything, you fix nothing. Choose the two error types that repeat most across the last five mocks and work only on those for a week.
2. Repair topics, do not just retest
A plateau means testing has stopped adding information. Switch for a week to topic practice on your weakest chapters, using sets such as time and work or syllogisms, and then return to full mocks.
3. Run a timing experiment
Change one variable: attempt order, per-question time ceiling or which section you start with. Keep everything else constant and compare two mocks. Small changes often release hidden marks.
4. Rest on purpose
Tired candidates repeat the same errors. A genuine day off before a test often helps more than another revision session.
Keep a record
Write the change you made and the outcome after each mock so you know what works. If you need a structure, see how to build an error log and how to analyse mock test results.
