How to Fix Silly Mistakes in Mock Tests
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
Most "silly" mistakes are not random. They cluster into a few types, and each type has a simple fix.
1. Misreading the question
You answered "which is not" as "which is". The fix: underline or note the key word (not, except, only, always) on your rough sheet before you read the options.
2. Calculation slips
You knew the method but added wrongly. The fix: write intermediate steps, even short ones, and use a quick reasonableness check at the end, such as the order of magnitude or units.
3. Marking the wrong option
You solved correctly but clicked a different option. The fix: after selecting, glance at your working and compare it with the option before moving on.
Measure, then fix
In your review, count how many marks you lost to each type over three tests. Choose the highest and work on it for a week. A short pause of two seconds before confirming an answer is often enough to cut errors by a noticeable amount.
Keep speed in check
Silly mistakes often rise when you rush. Tune your pace using section-wise time management and see improving speed and accuracy. Record each one in an error log.
