How to Attempt a Mock Test Like the Real Exam
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
A mock test taken casually tells you little about exam day. The closer your conditions are to the real thing, the more reliable the result becomes.
Before you start
- Choose the same time of day as your exam
- Keep a clean desk with only the items you are allowed in the exam hall
- Put your phone out of reach and tell people not to disturb you
During the test
Use the on-screen timer only, and do not pause. Do your rough work on paper as you would in the exam. If a question stumps you, mark it and move on, exactly as you plan to do on the day. Resist the urge to check answers online.
Right after
Write down how you felt: where you panicked, where you lost track of time and which questions you guessed. These notes make your review far more useful than the score alone. Then follow a structured review such as the one in how to review incorrect questions.
Why it matters
Realistic practice builds the habits you will rely on under stress. If you are new to mock tests, begin with what to expect from your first mock test. When you are ready, browse practice tests to find one that suits your exam.
