A sample question from this test
A boat covers some distance downstream at 24 km/h and returns upstream at 12 km/h. What is the speed of the stream (in km/h)?
- 16
- 11
- 6
- 9
Answer: C. 6. Speed of the stream = (down − up) ÷ 2 = (24 − 12) ÷ 2 = 6 km/h.
How to approach this test
Downstream speed is boat plus stream and upstream is boat minus stream; the boat speed is half the sum of the two and the stream speed half their difference.
This set leans hard, with multi-step questions, so treat it as a stretch: attempt the questions you can see a method for first and return to the rest. At 10 questions in 15 minutes, you have about 90 seconds per question on average. After you submit, review every wrong or guessed answer using the explanations.
