Balancing the three branches
Inorganic chemistry in NEET leans heavily on recall, organic chemistry on mechanisms and reagents, and physical chemistry on numericals. A common error is to over-invest in organic reactions while the more direct inorganic and physical questions go under-practised.
What to put in your tests
- Chemical bonding, periodic properties and the p-block for inorganic recall
- Basics of organic chemistry, hydrocarbons and biomolecules, which connect to Biology
- Mole concept, solutions, chemical kinetics and equilibrium for numerical work
Making revision stick
After a test, convert every wrong answer into a one-line note and revisit those notes two days later, then a week later. This spaced approach is far more effective than rereading the chapter, as discussed in our guide to spaced repetition. If your Chemistry accuracy sits below your Biology accuracy, Chemistry is where extra weekly practice produces the biggest gain.
