How to Use Mock Tests for Railway Exam Preparation
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
A railway recruitment paper is a test of breadth under time pressure: many direct questions, few of them hard. Mock tests help you cover everything at the right speed.
Start from what you can reach
In your first mock, count how many questions you could not reach. If the number is large, the issue is speed rather than knowledge. If you reached everything but scored low, it is accuracy. The remedy is different in each case.
A weekly template
- Three short sectional sets: Mathematics, Reasoning and General Awareness
- One full CBT-style paper
- A two-hour review block to fix repeated errors
Attempt the easy ones first
Because every question carries the same marks, answer the quick ones first and return to the longer ones later. Reasoning and General Awareness are often the quickest, so some candidates start there to build a score and a rhythm.
Keep a fact log
Write every General Awareness miss in a running list and revisit it weekly. Facts you meet three times tend to stay. For a broader plan, see the railway strategy guide and browse the railway mock tests. If your speed is the problem, improving speed and accuracy is a good companion read.
