How live tests work
An institute schedules a live test for a fixed start time. At that moment the test begins for everyone, synchronised on TestMint's servers. You cannot start early or late. The timer runs for the test's duration, and students submit around the same time, so rankings are produced across the same cohort. Live tests are listed below when institutes schedule them; whether an institute can run live tests depends on its subscription plan.
Why live tests are valuable
- Discipline: you practise sitting down at a fixed time, with no "I will start after dinner".
- Realism: everyone is in the same time pressure at the same moment.
- Comparable results: the cohort is the same, so rankings compare like with like.
- Rehearsal of nerves: the pressure of a fixed start is part of what you are training for.
How to prepare
- Note the start time and set two reminders.
- Log in ten minutes early and open the test page.
- Set up your space: charged device, stable connection, rough sheets, water. See the exam day checklist.
- Decide your plan: section order, checkpoints, ceiling and guess policy.
- Do a short breathing routine before the start. See how to handle anxiety.
If you disconnect
Your answers are saved as you go and the timer is tracked on the server. If your connection drops, reconnect and resume: the remaining time continues to run, so reconnect quickly. If you cannot, contact the institute or TestMint support through the contact page.
After the test
Write notes before you look at the score, then review wrong, guessed and slow questions: see how to review incorrect questions. Live-test ranks compare you with the cohort that took that test; treat them as one signal. See how to use leaderboards.
Practise while you wait
Between live tests, keep your preparation moving with practice tests, free mock tests and scheduled tests, which you can start at any time inside a window. For your exam's pattern, see mock tests by exam.
Institutes can schedule live tests: see the online exam platform page and the pricing page for plans.
