Online Exam Platform for Coaching Institutes

Not every online exam is the same. This page separates practice and mock examinations from formal, high-stakes assessment and explains where TestMint is, and is not, the right tool.

Two very different needs

PurposePreparation, feedback, ranking among peersCertification, admission or grading decisions
Main requirementExam-like experience, fast feedback, many testsIdentity checks, proctoring, audit trails, secure delivery
Consequences of a glitchAnnoying; retakeSerious; disputes
Typical toolsOnline test platformsDedicated proctored exam systems

TestMint is built for the first column. It is not a proctored examination system, and it does not claim to be one. If you need identity verification, camera monitoring or a secure browser for formal assessment, use a tool designed for that purpose.

What TestMint provides for exam-like practice

  • A timed interface with navigation and mark-for-review controls that you can switch on or off to match the real exam.
  • A server-tracked timer and autosave, so a disconnect does not cost the student answers or extra time.
  • Practice, scheduled and live tests: open access, a fixed window or a synchronised start for everyone (live tests depend on plan).
  • Randomisation of questions and options and attempt limits.
  • Automatic scoring with negative marking, and score, rank and topic-wise feedback for students.

When a live or scheduled test is useful

A live test starts for all students at the same moment, which rehearses the discipline of a fixed start and produces fair, same-window rankings. A scheduled test must be started within a window. Both help students prepare for real exam conditions. See live tests and upcoming tests for the student view.

Running a fair practice exam

  1. Match the real exam's pattern, timing and marking. See the exam pattern guides.
  2. Choose a window and tell students the rules in advance.
  3. Use randomisation and attempt limits where they fit.
  4. Hide results until the window ends if you compare students.
  5. Review the questions most students missed and fix flawed ones.

Comparing online exam platforms

  • Does it say clearly what it is built for?
  • Are timer and autosave handled on the server?
  • Which question types does it support?
  • How are results and analytics presented?
  • What are the costs, including any revenue share on paid tests?

Frequently asked questions
