How to Make Short Notes for Last-Minute Revision
06 Oct 2026 · TestMint Team
Notes that copy the textbook are useless for revision. Notes that capture what you forget are gold.
Write only what you forget
When you study a chapter, do not note what you already know. Note the formulas you could not recall, the exceptions and the facts that slipped. Mock test mistakes are the best source for these.
One page per topic
Set a limit of one page, front only. Constraints force you to choose what matters. If a topic needs more space, split it into two topics.
Add one worked example
For maths and reasoning topics, add a single example that shows the method. A formula without an example is easy to misapply under pressure.
Use a consistent layout
- Title and date at the top
- Key formulas or facts in a box
- Common mistakes in a short list
Update from every mock
After each test, add the new mistakes to the relevant page. Over time your notes become a personalised guide that no book can provide. Pair this with an error log and the review cycle in spaced repetition. When revision season arrives, use a last-week plan.
